Where Learning and Fun Go Hand in Hand

Nurturing Young Minds in Alamogordo, NM

A Gentle Introduction to Early Education

Thank you for choosing Kids Planet II Child Development Center for your child´s early education. When children join a new class, they may be nervous and unsure about what to expect. Families want to know if they will be welcome and if the teachers will value their suggestions and appreciate your child.

We are as flexible as possible during the first few weeks so new children and their families can follow their own pace while getting to know the room, the routines, the teachers, and their classmates. We acknowledge children´s strong feelings about being apart from their families or their former teachers. We will be taking the first step toward building relationships based on trust.

This is accomplished through a variety of activities designed to enthusiastically engage children in decision-making, analyzing, comparing, and expressing their thoughts and opinions. Through the opportunity to make choices and experience their consequences, children learn not only academically but also life's social skills. All curriculums are delivered using a dynamic, ever-changing method of play to provide children with exposure to many sensory experiences. For example, science exploration is conducted with hands-on, age-appropriate experiments that demonstrate a lively result or lesson; dramatic play allows children to act out a variety of scenarios and allows them to experience the different viewpoints of characters firsthand.

Why is Pre-K Important?

Pre-K is important because it provides a great foundation for kindergarten students entering public or private education and because it exposes children to an educational environment. Many students need that extra year to become accustomed to a classroom and learn how to play with other children.

In New Mexico, it is a state-funded classroom-based program for children and is free to the Alamogordo community. Our curriculum is based on the New Mexico Early Learning Guidelines. We have interviewed several kindergarten teachers to give us their expectations on what they expect a student to know. In their answers, they recommended children know his or her names, how to spell and recognize them, the alphabet, letter names, numbers one to ten, colors, and basic shapes. In my experience, students who have positive developmental experiences have a higher vocabulary, are more able to follow directions, are more confident, and have the ability to soar high.

Our Message for the Community

Community involvement is beneficial in all areas of life. We see the impact it has on the workforce and company culture in schools, towns, and small businesses around the world. For children, community involvement and engagement produce long-term benefits in their lives. It gives them a sense of belonging and is crucial to the building of their identity.

The beauty of participating in the creation of a community is that these events and experiences eventually lead to the building of profound relationships. These relationships must become part of children's everyday experiences and must be nurtured consistently over time. For children, these relationships can be vastly different and influential in their unique ways. Children are gifted the opportunity to learn, grow, and achieve greatness and happiness through their community and play.

Let's work together to unify, engage, and build these connections around the entire world—one community, one child, at a time.

I would recommend this childcare/pre-school. They definitely made my son comfortable on his first day. I was nervous wreck but they assured me right away Mrs Ross * Mrs Irma are very attentive, my only suggestion is the communication between the parents and staff regarding events policies be presented at a timely manner, possibly in on email or social media announcement other than that my son loves coming here.
